Code of Conduct

Last Updated: August 23rd, 2026

Welcome to The Verdant Compass Institute (TVCI). Our institution stands on the dual pillars of academic excellence and rigorous wilderness education. To maintain our standard of professionalism, safety, and organizational discipline, all participants must strictly adhere to the following Code of Conduct. These rules govern our facilities, digital platforms, and all field training environments.

1. Foundations of Character (The Oak & Compass)

All participants are held to the foundational virtues of The Verdant Compass Institute.

  • The Oak: Mandates unyielding integrity, psychological endurance, personal humility, and environmental stewardship. Participants are expected to display unyielding honesty, push through physical and mental hurdles with grace, and accept constructive instruction with humility.

  • The Compass: Mandates analytical wisdom, self-discipline, precision navigation, and a commitment to discovery. Participants must exercise sound judgment, look out for the safety and welfare of their peers, maintain personal discipline, and approach unknown environments with a mindset of growth.

2. Operational Safety & Field Disciplines

  • Absolute Operational Authority: During training the instructing cadre holds absolute operational command. Participants must execute all safety, boundary, and scenario-specific orders instantly and without debate.

  • Small-Unit Responsibility: When appointed to leadership roles (e.g., student team leaders), individuals are responsible for the accountability, gear discipline, and safety tracking of their assigned peers under cadre oversight.

  • Simulation Boundary Protocols: For some specifically designated exercises participants must strictly adhere to the pre-briefed limitations (to include physical) and training boundaries. Simulated exercises must immediately cease upon cadre signaling.

  • Controlled Systems & Tools: Sharp tools (axes, knives), signaling devices, medical trainers, and navigation apparatus are controlled items. Unauthorized deployment or careless handling of any tool will result in immediate field dismissal.

  • Expeditionary Land Stewardship: In accordance with the virtue of the Oak, all wilderness programs strictly enforce a zero-impact Leave No Trace (LNT) policy. Intentional damage to flora, fauna, or historical sites is classified as a critical breach of the Code of Conduct. Students must actively minimize their impact on the wilderness, protect local wildlife, manage waste flawlessly, and leave training sites pristine. Damaging the environment violates the core tenet of Stewardship and leads to disciplinary action.

3. Professional & Behavioral Standards

  • Academic Integrity: The Verdant Compass Institute’s Eight Disciplines are highly structured intellectual properties. Unauthorized recording, distribution of course materials, or reproduction of the catalog system is strictly prohibited.

  • Zero-Tolerance Policy: The following actions guarantee immediate removal, total fee forfeiture, and a permanent ban from The Verdant Compass Institute:

    • Verbal, physical, or psychological harassment of any peer or cadre member.

    • Possession or consumption of alcohol, cannabis, or illicit substances during any field training.

    • Failure to immediately disclose physical injury, cognitive impairment, or medical changes to the cadre.

  • Youth Program Separation: Adult participants in any course or program are strictly prohibited from entering designated youth program areas, camps, or digital channels without explicit administrative clearance.

  • Contraband Restrictions: Unauthorized firearms, non-prescribed controlled substances, alcohol, and unapproved electronic communication gear are strictly prohibited in the training area.

4. Disciplinary Actions & Forfeiture

The Verdant Compass Institute operates under a non-negotiable disciplinary protocol. The instructing cadre reserves the right to medically or behaviorally drop any participant from a program to protect the individual, classmates, and the structural integrity of the course. Expulsion under this Code triggers immediate enforcement of the Enforcement and Forfeiture of Fees clause in the Terms of Service.
